New Location and Historic Renovation!

Local Restauranteur Preserves and Renovates Historic Bank During Pandemic;

Supports Community Using Local Talent.

Swedesboro, NJ – Spicy Affair Indian Cuisine, a well-known area Indian Restaurant believes in history and beautiful things. About a year ago, they purchased the vacant, historic Bank on the corner of Kinds Highway and Railroad Avenue in hopes to fulfill their dream of a free standing Indian fine dining restaurant. Here they could offer a unique dining experience in a magnificent atmosphere, complete with marble pillars, a private room with a hardwood fireplace and its own balcony and a members-only wine bar where customers could store their libations in still intact, safe deposit boxes.

Then COVID happened. They stayed on course with their plans but delays mounted. They did a soft opening of their take out & delivery services and added a patio (not in original plan) to offer outdoor dining. Construction delays and State regulations have held back the completion and official opening of their main dining area. They have not stopped, however. Their innovative thinking, planning and being good community citizens continues. They made a conscious decision to support those around them who were also hit hard by the pandemic. They have sent food platters to the healthcare workers at their local hospitals, offered to send free food to those in need and have made it a point to hire local vendors and contractors to help them complete their dream restaurant.

“It’s all about doing what is right in a time of need,” notes Owner Nik Minhas. “We have to work together to keep things going and this is our home. These are our neighbors.” Nik and his wife Cindy, had a mission when they arrived here from Vancouver, Canada. They came from a big city, yet fell in love with this friendly town nestled in the farmlands of fresh produce in South Jersey. They knew this would be a great place to raise their two sons and enjoy life. What they did not see, though, was much diversity in terms of different foods and the cultures they represented. They wanted to bring the exquisite flavors they grew up with to their new home.

For now, Spicy Affair is open 7 days a week for take-out and delivery and their lovely outdoor patio is perfect for the fall weather and hopefully they can stay open well into November. Spicy Affair is following the State’s mandate on opening and once construction and design is finished, they will be able to open indoors for fine dining and private parties.
